The Strawberry Line is a project backed by local Community Groups, Councillors and Senior Politicians with the aim of converting the old railway line from Clevedon to Cranmore into a network of safe paths for both walkers and cyclists, families and residents to enjoy and looks to promote 'Safe Paths for All' from Clevedon to Cranmore in Somerset.

The Strawberry Line Society (SLS), formerly the Cheddar Valley Railway Walk Society, started the ball rolling in 1978 when they persuaded North Somerset Council to buy much of the dismantled railway line between Yatton and Axbridge and lease it to the Society as a walk and nature reserve. The Society later became a registered charity and extended the railway path to Cheddar. The Society is the registered owner of the Strawberry Line website.

The Strawberry Line Association (SLA) is an association of interested groups who want to see the existing Strawberry Line path extend north from Yatton to Clevedon, and east from Cheddar to Wells and Shepton Mallet.

At the same time several village settlements within striking distance of the line could see the benefit to their local communities if connecting paths linked to the main Strawberry Line route.

Sustrans, the national cycling charity, is closely involved with the Strawberry Line project and can see this Mid-Somerset route as a valuable asset in their country-wide network of cycle paths. The vision is to see a circular traffic-free route – theSomerset Circle – connecting Bristol, Portishead, Clevedon, Yatton, Cheddar, Wells, Shepton Mallet, Radstock, and Bath. Some sections of this route have already been completed (including the recently opened Two Tunnels Way), and the Strawberry Line would provide a crucial missing link.
