WELLS CITY PRACTICE PATIENTS PARTICIPATION GROUP
What is a PPG?
In Somerset, there are about 70 PPGs, based in GP surgeries throughout the county. Each PPG is made up from patients and practice staff. Having a Patients group within every practice is an NHS requirement.
What does the PPG actually do?
Each PPG meets regularly, and aims to act as “critical friends” of their respective practices. We look at how the surgery currently works, and what objectives have been set for the coming year. And how we might help to achieve these.
We have a lively group, and members have a real chance to be involved, and to have a say, in the way our practice is run.
Meetings are held at two-monthly intervals, usually on a Tuesday, early evening.
We aim to keep to 1.5 hours for these meetings. Sometimes we get carried away (!) and go on a bit longer, but we recognise that time is short for many people. So the aim is 1.5 hours.
If you cannot commit to coming regularly to our meetings – 6 a year – then you may well like to join our Virtual PPG. This means that you can join in online, and be kept up to date with what we are currently doing.
Would you like to join us?
We would love new members in our group. Particularly if they have young families or are in that magic age group up to 50 or so. Within that magic, we include teenagers too, recognising that they can make enormously useful contributions to our meetings.
If you would like to know more, please contact the practice for details, or email Rosalie Fiennes PPG Chairperson on Rosalie.firstname.lastname@example.org.
WCP is the left hand door as you go through the entrance!
